E-mail (Dated: 6/26/2017) SERVICE is the Work of God

Hello my Family!

I just want to start off saying, WOW! I have a great family, which is all of you! We are all true brothers and sisters on this earth, and the earth to come (Celestial Kingdom)!

This last week was good, even though most of our appointments fell through, and even if we  didn´t have the money to go to see some of the investigators we were hoping. However, we did have the chance to do some physical labor.

As missionaries we have the wonderful opportunity, or should I say privilege to stand as representatives of the Lord. But as members, we are also representatives. In this wonderful service we get to go out and bring back those who have fallen astray, those who have not yet received the fullness of the gospel and to find and convert yourself in the process as well. I think it´s awesome and I am so grateful to be a missionary not only for now, but forever. I love a talk given by Jeffery R. Holland where he is telling of the story of Christ talking to Peter on the shore. What I need, Peter, are disciples—and I need them forever. I need someone to feed my sheep and save my lambs. I need someone to preach my gospel and defend my faith. I need someone who loves me, truly, truly loves me, and loves what our Father in Heaven has commissioned me to do.

I love this because we have been called as disciples not only for now but forever. Just something I thought to share today.

Yes, this last week we did some service and it was good. We painted a house and it was a task of two days and it was good. Afterwards, our arms were so exhausted! We will actually be helping the same family again to move houses this week.

As I said before, most our appointments fell through, so we will be working twice as hard this week to have those lessons and to place some baptism dates. We also didn't have the baptism of Erick, that will now be this upcoming Saturday.

All is well and life is good. I hope you will all take the time to listen to my voice message I will send. It is a bit long and all over the place so if you don´t have the time, at least listen to the challenges I have for you all at the end.

Some crazy things that happened this last week is that we witnessed a full out brawl with rocks and glass and punches being thrown left and right. We quickly left the area. I had a lamb yesterday for dinner, and when I say this I mean every part of the lamb...the heart, intestines and all haha! It might sound sketchy, but it actually tasted good.

My comp is good and I still learning lots from him! I love you all and thanks for your love and prayers and support!

This last week we have been using my personal money to get around. Like I said, my monthly account from the mission was used to pay our rent, water and electricity and also a lot to travel to Leon. Also, some days we literally get fed very little and I almost black out so I used some of that money to buy food.

Love
Elder Harmon

So this last week was great!

We had a full week of well all sorts of things!

We had the chance to find some new investigators as well as gaining back a few that Paez and I had lost. So we are now teaching Anel and Maribel again! So that is exciting!

A cool thing that happened while teaching Anel about the First Vision is that for much of the time I have had a testimony of it, but never really understood how and why until in that moment. Let me explain. Some time ago I remember suffering with some questions of my own and feeling lost and I remember just like Joseph Smith I had dropped to my knees praying for the comfort and guidance of our Heavenly Father, then, while teaching this lesson to Anel, my testimony grew stronger and I felt closer to Heavenly Father. Just thought that was pretty cool.

Also, we had a great lesson with Carlos and that was another sweet growing moment for myself to gain stronger testimony of the Plan of Salvation.

We had also had the baptism of Carlos on Saturday. That was a sweet experience. I was asked to give the baptismal talk and Morales to perform the ordinance, and it was just so full of the spirit and love. Morales and I have really come really close with Carlos and so it was almost as if watching the baptism of a close friend. We was so ready for baptism and it was cool to welcome him into the church, which is the true church of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So President Williamson came to our church yesterday on a surprise visit, and he talked with Francisco about baptism. He is going to have an appointment with him this week, which I think might be with us. If all goes well this next change I could baptize Francisco! We will see how it all goes!

Also, we had some fun moments this last week, washed my clothes first time by hand which was fun. We ran into Victor Nuños again which is always a fun experience. Also my camera broke, well more like Pancheco our mission leader dropped it while taking a picture of me and Morales and Carlos in front of the font, so all sorts of good and funny and sad moments haha. But we are doing good and having success here, and we will have another baptism this Sunday but for the ward, but I will be doing the baptizing, his name is Erick! So that is about it!

I love you Family and Friends!

This last week was a good one!

I´m going to share just a couple of experiences and just let you know how I´m doing!

This last week we had several lessons with the family Ibarra this last week, who is a family that has four members, the mom, two daughters and a son. However; the father and another son are not baptized. We got a message from the mom asking if we could come over to prepare her youngest son for baptism. So, we headed over and took the opportunity to teach him with his family. The spirit in the room is so strong when you are gathered as a family and especially when it´s a kid because like we say sometimes… they are often closest to the spirit. We talked about baptism with him and his family. He was so giddy and happy about it. We we set a date for his baptism, we asked who they would like to perform the ordinance (e.g. someone in the ward, his brother, etc) but the mom stopped us and said, “I´d really like one of you to baptize him.” So that was cool, because it shows how our relationship with the members is growing. It was really cool.

We are also teaching two people named Beatrize and her son Jose. They live in this tiny little shed, at least that is what it looks like. They are so sweet and humble. Beatrize is the same lady that said she wants my blue eyes. Anyways, she and Jose just listen and listen and are just so close to the spirit. We taught lesson three with them this last week, and they have agreed that we can start preparing them for baptism. We plan to pass by again on Thursday.

We also received several references this week. Then, another family that came to the church told us they want to be taught by us and we are so excited to work with them!

Also this week, the President told me that I will spend one more transfer here in Silao so that means I will have the opportunity to continue working with these wonderful families!

Some fun that happened this last week is that we had Elder Morales birthday! I made him a big sign made from flash cards and also we cooked at a member’s house and made cho ming, haha - I don´t know how to spell it:-) Also, in the night I made him what I like to call a cake, but it was more like a pancake/scrambled egg cake. It was made with love and laughter at least, haha. I have a picture I will send.

This week we also bought matching shirts. Just different colors and we also purchased some pants for me, because I need some! However, the only one store had them long enough for me, but they are TIGHT. At least they are made of stretch material, haha.

So, we had a good week!

I love you all so much and praying for you always!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

This last week was just full of absolute well fun, horror, learning and love for the mission hahah!

Now, I´m going to explain this a little bit!

My companion and I have been and will continue to work really hard. If all goes well and according to our hopes, we could have 9 baptisms! We have a lot of investigators that are progressing right now and many to visit within this next week.

We have one baptism for the 17th of this month and his name is Carlos! I will send my voice recording so you can hear more about the others! Carlos has really been progressing as Elder Morales and I have worked with him. I actually had the opportunity to invite him to baptism and he said YES! Our lessons were just so full of the spirit and so powerful. Morales and I have been working a lot together learning to teach and gain relationships here!

So, in summary, we are doing great! We have been trying all sorts of methods to contact and to visit more with less actives and members. My Spanish is being used with pretty much every aspect of the mission!

Morales and I get along a lot better now and we are really looking forward to the work here! SIlao is progressing.

One cool experience this week was after an appointment fell through again, twice with the same family. We were feeling really down and just kind of droopy and praying in our hearts. Then, a lady I was walking pást started asking me if I had any pamphlets of Joseph Smith and I said yes. We started talking and she is very interested and has been looking for our church. She has two kids and I think we will be able to baptize them this month. We look forward to our lesson with them on Tuesday!

Now, for a scary story.  So, I had just run to the gas station and I had heard what I thought were fireworks, because most the time that's what it is. Then Morales and I began walking and sat down not much further away. We started planning on a bench which is usually full of people. We thought that was weird. Then a member came across the street and told us three people were just murdered about 15 yards from us. So we started walking to go home because that is what we are supposed to do when this happens. We then  saw two of the people shot in their cars with their bodies just soaked in blood and the bullet holes in the head. I was in a bit of shock, it was a bit scary, but we are good! Just one of the adventures of Silao!

Other than that, this week has been great! Today we had the chance to go bowling with our zone and President, so that is why I am on a bit late today. We were actually in Leon.

I love you all. Let me know if you have any questions!
